Use Bookings to find reservations, seat guests, assign tables and change booking times. Choose a list, floor plan or timeline to manage your service.

Open Bookings

Open Munchi POS and tap Bookings in the bottom navigation. The tab appears when a booking integration is enabled. If it is hidden, open Settings, go to Display and Custom tabs, and turn on Bookings. Bookings now has its own tab. The previous booking button inside Tables has moved. Upcoming reservations still appear on the Tables floor plan, so staff can see who is arriving and when. Choose the view for your task

  • List: find a booking and quickly seat guests, cancel or mark a no-show.
  • Map: see bookings on the floor plan and move them between tables.
  • Timeline: plan the day by table and time, reschedule bookings and assign tables.

Find a booking and seat guests

List view shows booking cards with the guest name, booking reference, time, party size and assigned table or floor when available.   1. Open Bookings and select List.
  2. Choose the booking date at the top. Use the arrows to move between dates or Today to return to the current day.
  3. Use Search bookings to find the guest, for example by name.
  4. Find the correct booking and check its time and party size.
  5. Tap Seat when the guests are seated. Use Cancel for a cancelled reservation or No-show when the guests do not attend.

Read the daily totals

The top bar shows the total number of bookings, confirmed bookings, pending bookings and covers for the selected day. Covers means the number of guests, rather than the number of reservations. A booking for four guests contributes four covers.

Choose a status or time filter

In Timeline, tap a status such as Confirmed or a meal period such as Lunch to narrow the bookings shown. Choose All in each filter group to see all statuses and meal periods again. Timeline filters include Requested, Confirmed, Seated, Completed and No show, plus Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Assign or change a table on the map

Use Map when you want to place a booking on the floor plan or move guests to another table.
  1. Open Bookings and select Map.
  2. Choose the correct date and floor, such as Main or Terrace.
  3. Press and hold the booking, then drag it onto the table you want to assign.
  4. Release it and check that the booking appears on the destination table. Allow the view a moment to refresh.

View all bookings for a table

Tap a table to see its bookings for the selected day. Select a reservation to access its details and actions. A table can have several reservations throughout the day.

Edit booking details

Open the reservation and tap the pencil icon next to the guest name to edit its details. Use this when you need to change more than the table assignment.

Change a booking time in the timeline

Timeline shows time across the top and tables down the left, grouped by floor. Each booking block shows the party size, guest name and time range. A booking reference is shown when available.
  1. Open Bookings and select Timeline.
  2. Find the reservation on the correct date.
  3. Press and hold its booking block.
  4. Drag it left or right to change the time. Drag it to another table row to change the table.
  5. Release it, then check the resulting table and time range.

Read table capacity and floor totals

The number beside a table name is its seating capacity. Floor headings summarize the number of tables and booked guests for that floor. Use these alongside the daily covers total when planning service. For example, if a party needs more seats, use the capacity beside each table to find an appropriate destination before moving the booking.

Create a booking and assign a table later

Use the calendar icon with a plus in the top-right corner of Bookings to add a walk-in or a reservation taken offline, such as by phone.
  1. Tap the calendar-plus icon to open the booking form.
  2. Enter the guest and reservation details.
  3. Assign a table now, or create the booking without a table if you want to allocate seating later.
  4. After creating the booking, open Timeline. Bookings without tables appear in Unassigned at the bottom.
  5. Press and hold the unassigned booking, then drag it into the row of the table you want to use. Check the time as you place it.

Common questions

Where did the booking button in Tables go?

Reservation management has moved into the separate Bookings tab. Upcoming reservations still appear in Tables. Open Bookings for the full list, map and timeline.

Why can I not see Bookings?

Check that the POS app is updated and your restaurant has a booking integration enabled. Then check Settings, Display and Custom tabs to make sure Bookings is turned on.

Why can I not find a reservation?

Check the selected date and clear any search text. In Timeline, select All for both status and meal period. If a booking has no table, look for it in the Unassigned row. In Map, check that you are viewing the correct floor.

Why did a booking briefly disappear after moving it?

The map refreshes when a booking is reassigned. Allow it a moment to update, then check the destination table and booking details.

Can we use a separate tablet for reservations?

Yes. You can run Munchi POS on a separate tablet and keep the Bookings tab open for the staff managing reservations.

Does this change the customer booking website?

No. Customers can continue using the existing reservation website. This guide covers how staff manage those reservations inside Munchi POS.

Do we still need the reservation management website?

You can manage daily bookings in the POS Bookings tab. Continue using the reservation management website for booking settings.

Is this booking interface available on handhelds?

The booking management interface described here is for Munchi POS. It is not included in the handheld app.
